About Kai
Kai Vaksdal is a lifelong petrolhead with over 30 years of experience driving, racing, modifying and occasionally breaking performance cars.
From hot hatches and track cars to Porsche Caymans and his current GT4, Kai has always believed cars are built to be driven. Now he's taking that experience back to basics, developing a Renault Clio Sport into a properly sorted track car and sharing what genuinely works — and what doesn't.
Expect fast cars, track days, honest opinions and plenty of lessons learned the expensive way.
The Garage
A garage with a bit of everything. From Kai’s track-focused Porsche GT4 and ever-evolving Clio Sport to the Triumph for two-wheeled adventures — plus the electric MINI Cooper JCW that proves his wife can have the sensible car without sacrificing the fun.

Front mounted 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder in line, 200bhp, 6 speed manual (short ratio) Front wheel drive, LSD This is my little runaround, used for trips to the station, shops, skip trips and occasional spirited drives in the countryside.
I love its short gearing and big engine/small car feel. I can drive this car pretty hard without actually going that fast. This will be our project car - we will start with some simple upgrades and work together to see what works, what doesn’t and what must be done in order to make it and use it faster….
Porsche Cayman 718 GT4
Mid-mounted 4.0L flat-six, 420bhp, 6-speed manual (standard long ratios), RWD, LSD.
This is my crowning achievement. After three decades of refining my taste in cars, I finally reached this milestone and a truly incredible machine. It represents the pinnacle of what I can drive and likely the finest vehicle I will ever possess. Reserved for perfect weather, Nurburgring pilgrimages, and track sessions, it has received subtle tuning with more performance upgrades to come.

Mid mounted 798cc, 115bhp, 3 cylinder in line, 6 speed manual (standard ratios)
Rear wheel drive, chain driven.
Ok, I’m a sunny weather rider, I admit it. This bike is really good fun, quick enough but not as mad as my previous Aprilia 1100 V4. I’ve been all over the South of England, Northern France, Belgium and all the way to Switzerland and Italy on this - it’s great for two up and scratching around alone. 3 cylinder induction sounds great
Front mounted 54.2kWh electric motor, 258bhp, automatic (no ratios)
Front wheel drive, electronic diff.
Mostly my wife’s car but a decent effort by Mini to make a sporty, electric hot hatch. Obviously no gears, but punchy in the way electric motors are with immediate torque. A bit too linear to feel “real” and just a bit too heavy (due to batteries)
